In this section (when completed), we will cover the IUPAC rules for naming organic molecules, isomerism, and reactions each of the key homologous series: alkanes, including the free radical substitution mechanism; alkenes, including electrophilic addition; alcohols including oxidation; and haloalkanes, including the nucleophilic substitution mechanism and the greenhouse effect. We will also cover the methods of mass spectrometry and infrared spectrometry for analysing organic substances.
