Kitchen Sink Science

Graham Bray · May 31, 2020

This Kitchen Sink Science course aligns with the AQA Key Stage 3 specification and the 10 Big Topics. However, this shouldn’t be a restriction. The investigations can be used with any Key Stage 3 course you might be following, and also could be used with Key Stage 2 students (to stretch their understanding) and iGCSE students (to reinforce their understanding).

  • 20 videos showing in detail how to carry out the practical investigations.
  • Activity sheets for each investigation, with details of the simple equipment needed and the method, step-by-step.
  • Results and question sheets for each investigation to get students thinking about the observations they have made
  • An overview showing how the investigations link to the AQA KS3 Ten Topics

Every video in the Kitchen Sink Science course consists of a series of Powerpoint slides and embedded experiment clips. My narration covers all slides, making them as clear and concise as possible.

The whole point in the planning of the Kitchen Sink Science course was to enable simple investigations to be carried out without any expensive equipment. There are one or two pieces of kit that will need to be purchased, such as safety glasses and crocodile leads, but I have tried to keep any expenditure to a minimum.

Where necessary I have highlighted any safety issues as I have worked through the videos, but at the end of the day it is the responsibility of parents and students to look ahead and assess for themselves exactly what safety precautions need to be put in place. By watching these videos and undertaking these experiments at home or in your own environment you are accepting liability for any incidents that may occur.
